Kia Orana. Welcome to this special website which was created by the CICC Bicentennial Celebrations Unit (BCU) to hold information and related graphics on the bicentenary of Christianity in the Cook Islands (1821-2021).
The bicentenary was celebrated on the island of Aitutaki from Thursday 21 October to Monday 1 November 2021. The celebrations marked 200 years since the arrival of LMS Missionary Rev. John Williams and Tahitian Teachers Papeiha Teato and Vahapata on the LMS Mission Ship Westmoreland to evangelise the island on 26 October 1821.
