History
The vision to cultivate our CICC religion in the suburb of Hampton Park started on the 13th of January 2007 at the Rev. Tuakeu Daniel’s premise. Hampton Park CICC was established a month later 27th February 2007 at the Arthur Ren Hall in Hampton Park. From its early beginnings, Hampton Park CICC has grown fruitfully since its first fellowship six years ago. Hampton Park has established itself as a focal point for many Cook Islanders in the area and has thus continued in its drive to seeing Christ enveloped in the hearts of all who come in His wonderful name.
Administration
The Minister is the chairperson for all meetings except departmental ones. The overall administrator is the Secretary, assisted by the Assistant Secretary. The Treasurer looks after the church’s finances and reports regularly to church meetings.
Departments
There are 4 departments; Deacon’s, Women’s Fellowship, Christian Youth and Sunday School. Each department has its own regular programs and activities.
Meetings
All departments hold regular individual meetings to monitor the progress of their own programs. The Church as a whole has a combined meeting at the end of every 3 months. In these quarterly meetings, reports are given from the Minister, Secretary, Treasurer and department leaders. Irregular meetings are also convened as and when the need arises
Protocol
Our Cook Islands culture and tradition, especially in the essence of our Cook Islands Christian Church (Religion), is so well depicted in its Sunday service. On communion Sunday, men wear white suits and women wear white dresses. During the actual services, the following are observed:
- Quietness at all times unless part-taking in the hymns
- Mobile phones are to be turned off
- Casual wear (singlets, shorts, etc.) is not preferred
Sermons
Hampton Park CICC follows the Scripture Union Bible Reading Plan which sets out daily scripture readings. Sermons are conducted in Cook Islands Maori and English for the sake of our young people who grew up here in Australia that has very little local language (Cook Is Maori). Sermons are prepared and presented by the Minister, Deacon and any visiting Minister from outside the Church.
